Meet 'Omid' the Siberian Crane. Omid means 'hope' in Persian but hope has forsaken Omid as he is the last individual of the now functionally extinct western population of Siberian Cranes. He has been migrating alone between between Russia and Iran for 14 years.

Happy to see our Georgian falconer-friends are getting hooked on the ringing work that we started this autumn. Levan and other trappers caught 19 hawks today. All birds were ringed before release, and shortly after we got a nice dataset sent our way. I love it when a plan ...

A lot of Sparrowhawk migration, so the falconers are back in the field. Here our falconer-friend Levan is releasing 1 of the 19 birds he ringed today in Poti. In Levan's own words: "I've been trapping for years, but now with the ringing I feel that I am doing something important"

Have any of my #running friends used the #Garmin #Forerunner #935? If so, is it any good? I'm looking to start training again, so need a watch with decent battery life 😁 #training #ultra #ultramarathon #garminforerunner935

What a mesmerising animation of a Marsh Harrier soaring across the Alps. Almost painstakingly slow climbs up the (north-facing?) windward slopes followed by rapid ascents to high altitude over ridge-tops and fast glides over the leeward slopes and valleys. A delight to watch 😍

Mehr Infos: birdlife.at/page/telemetri… Karte © Ayvri/Microsoft Bing Maps

3 visits to hospital in the past 10 days, culminating in the last being a multiple day stay to try and sort out lithium toxicity in my blood. CT scan also flagged additional issues. Now home recovering, though struggling with mental health due to lithium withdrawal etc. #bipolar
