Yo! Me and @__francescahope have been working away on this for 9 months. It's been shocking uncovering the harm done across the public sector by debt collection. TL;DR: Council Tax collection in particular needs urgent attention, sign our petition: change.org/p/it-s-time-to…

🚨 NEW RESEARCH We’ve published our latest report on public sector debt collection - with a focus on council tax collection, and what’s going wrong. 🎥 Watch @TbyMrry explain what we’ve found and what we’re calling for - and read the report here: bit.ly/4gdqGsu 1/2

Today Chancellor delivered her #Budget2024 statement. While there are a number of welcome changes, we are deeply concerned by the confirmation that the government will take forward reforms to the Work Capability Assessment. Read our full response: bit.ly/40qt1Lk

Absolutely gutting that there was nothing in the Chancellor's speech on frozen LHA. The Chancellor has chosen to keep housing benefits frozen, while rents sky-rocket. This was the wrong choice, & private renters struggling to pay their rent will feel forgotten today. #Budget25

Reducing debt deductions in universal credit is very welcome and will make a significant difference But the max deduction can be above 25%, it will be interesting to see what happens to these families

Good to see the financial support for local governments, but feels pretty insignificant compared to what's needed. Disappointing, but not surprising, not to have anything on making council tax & council tax collection fairer. #budget

Please lord can Keir Starmer sort out his jacket - all this money spent on free clothes & still got bunched shoulders #budget

TAX THE PRIVATE JETS!!! TAX THEM!!!

Not scrapping the previous Government’s planned deep benefit cuts for disabled people, and cracking down on "benefit fraud" is really upsetting to hear as the first mention of policies that impact low income households in the #Budget25.

BIG WIN! (For @jrf_uk and @TrussellUK) but also as we called for in our public sector report - deductions capped at 15% rather than 25% is great news! #budget

They are going to continue the work capability plan of last govt - likely to mean a crackdown on incapacity benefit claims #Budget24

Great news on having a single adult minimum wage!! Finally the work that young people do being recognised fairly. #Budget
