Post-ROSC #epinephrine was not assoc. with ⬆️ odds of prehospital #rearrest compared to #norepinephrine in a 'target trial emulation' study (n=1,893; aOR: 0.93 [0.72, 1.21]). We addressed limitations of prior studies, including drug/rearrest temporality. resuscitationjournal.com/article/S0300-…

Great paper in @JACEPOpen discussing the development of a bundle of care to prevent rearrest following OHCA resuscitation. Looking forward to seeing results of implementation of the 'Stabilize on Scene' (SOS) bundle! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/em…
There is a serious issue with research waste in medicine, much of it coming from churned out, low quality observational studies This is a problem that comes with serious harms Why does it happen, and what can we do about it? 🔗 in next post
Yesterday I was very lucky indeed. I completed the Bognor #Parkrun but went into cardiac arrest soon after, within metres of an off-duty paramedic & a defibrillator that had never been used before. The defib now has a 100% success rate & I will forever be in the debt of Alice ❤️
On today's @FL_NAEMSP webinar @henrywangmd described the longitudinal trends of advanced airway management in EMS. The image below clearly shows when the SGA overtook ETI in cardiac arrest. Full video will be up soon on our YouTube channel. @TannerSmida
Join us via Zoom tomorrow, November 1st at 11 AM EST as @TannerSmida and @HandtevyMD host @henrywangmd to discuss his recently published paper in @jama Zoom registration in comments.
Two large RCTs in NEJM (n=6082 UK, n=1506 Denmark) comparing IV-first v IO-first strategy. NO difference in ROSC (primary)/mort/neuro for Denmark, and NO difference in mort (primary)/neuro for UK BUT there was increased ROSC in IV group! Links: nejm.org/doi/full/10.10……
2 RCTs testing IV vs IO vascular access in OHCA patients just published in the @NEJM and concomitantly presented at #RESUS24 @ERC_resus ➡️ No difference in 30d survival in both trials ➡️ Higher rate of ROSC with IV access in the #PARAMEDIC3 trial 🇬🇧 nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… 🇩🇰…
