There are good legal frameworks for charcoal by enforcement is difficult. The only challenge is the quotas provided to district and TFS staff for royalty collection. These allow for uncontrolled harvesting of forest.
There are so many legal frameworks governing charcoal. There is a need for a single manual for controlling harvesting with all legal frameworks. the manual should be published for all charcoal stakeholders.
The workshop was funded by the Europen Union, and commissioned by the Government through the Ministry of Finance. It is implemented by TaTEDO-SESO and TNRF

Participants of the EU-TaTEDO-SESO -TNRF workshop at Edema Hotel, Morogoro. The workshop started at 9.30 EAT and ended at 15.30 EAT. The objective was to dialogue with policy and decision-makers about conflicting areas within policies and legal frameworks related to charcoal.
TaTEDO-SESO and TNRF are conducting a workshop for stakeholders on Policy Dialogue on Related Policies and Legal Frameworks Hindering Sustainable Charcoal Value Chain Promotion in Tanzania
The workshop is currently continuing at Edema Hotel, Morogoro. The objective is to dialogue with policy and decision-makers about conflicting areas within policies and legal frameworks that need to be harmonized, and updated to, promote the sustainable charcoal value chain.
The Project Coordinator presented a brief presentation of the Integrated Sustainable Charcoal Value Chain Promotion in the Coastal Region of Tanzania
The presentation that is going on at the moment is for policy and legal framework policy analysis. The policies and legal framework have shortcomings which should be addressed to enhance charcoal value chain.
