Marie Van Brittan Brown a Black nurse/inventor from Queens, NY. She’s responsible for the idea to create a home surveillance televised security system in 1966, Her innovation has expanded beyond just security for those at home, her ideas are used all over in today’s society.
Madam C.J. Walker was the first African American woman to become a self-made millionaire after creating a line of hair products geared toward aiding healthy black hair. She is responsible and credited for the first women’s hair growth serum, “Madam Walker’s Wonderful” in 1905.
New York 1969-1983 Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to congress. She represented New York's 12th District, in 1972 she became the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. Her slogan "Unbought and unbossed" rings even louder today
Frederick McKinley Jones left his mark w/ the development of the Thermo King, it allowed people to eat fresh food annually. His work also contributed to the preservation of blood & medicine, That aided vets during WW2, First black man to receive the National Medal of Technology.
