This little bat is a Kuhl's pipistrelle, the 1st record for Norfolk! It was found trapped in an industrial unit in Great Yarmouth. No injuries just underweight & very thirsty, so after a few days TLC with one of our bat carers it will shortly be released back at the coast.

It’s happened again ☹️ Rare barbastelle bat taken to bat carer in Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group this week - hit by a car & didn’t survive. Road schemes like proposed Norwich Western Link, which would pass through internationally important barbastelle area, are major threat. @_BCT_

This little pipistrelle was brought into care after roosting in a silly spot. After a few days nursing from our bat carers he was re-released this evening. He made sure to eat as many mealworms as possible before departing!

NNBG members are continuing our research projects this autumn. We will be out across Norfolk catching bats to find out more about them. This week we have been out at the coast looking for Nathusius' pipistrelles as they make land fall on their autumn migration.

I’m seeing a lot of anger and disappointment in badger circles today that the badger cull is ending, but not ending fast enough. Apologies for the long thread 🧵, but tet me explain why I think the news is the best it could be 1/25

Tell me this isn’t the the prettiest bat you’ve ever seen 😍 this Hoary Bat is the biggest bat in Canada and was lucky enough to get a Motus tag this morning to track their migration routes @LongPointBirdOb

One of our bat carers currently has 13 Natterer's pups, 12 pipistrelle pups, 2 injured pips which have now given birth to pups in care, & 5 more injured adult pips. What a year! Here is a Natterer's pup doing some press ups and wing stretches, soon be ready to be off. #BatCare

I'll be at Mannington with @NorwichBats tomorrow.

This Saturday we will be at Wild About Mannington. We will have a stand, with your chance to make bat rockets! Bring your wellies, many of their lovely footpaths are a bit damp after the rain.

#30dayswild will not be difficult for these two, they love being outside. Today we are in the wild corner of the garden. Some of our foxgloves are really big & lots of bees & other insects visit.
