2/2 In the late 1960's Coventry city brigade was using compressed air breathing apparatus carried on pumping appliances on a day to day basis. Proto BA had a longer duration and was used for larger and more complex BA operations. @WMFSHeritage

Many thanks for this information about the new Bournbrook appliance. Much appreciated. @WestMidsFire

The vehicle has been created as a concept. The removal of the 13.5 ladder and gantry allows a square rear with extra storage for contaminated fire kit away from the cab. The concept is under evaluation and testing, is subject to feedback, and isn't part of a new policy.

This is the new one-off West Midlands appliance that does not have central ladder gantries to carry a 13.5m ladder.

A New Pumping Appliance for West Midlands Fire Service 🚒 This one-off concept vehicle features custom-built locker stowage layouts, an 1800L water tank, CCTV camera system, and cutting-edge Emergency One user interfaces like eCabControl and ePumpControl 🔥

Almost 60 years after City of Coventry FB introduced bright yellow appliances, an increasing amount of fluorescent yellow wrapping is appearing on UK fire trucks.

All Huddersfield crews are training with the new 32 meter aerial appliance in preparation for it going into operational service, sooon. Great work all 👏 🚒#aerial #tightsqueeze #angoloc #nicecolour

Today is the fifth anniversary of the Notre Dame fire in Paris.

Did you know that Grampian Fire and Rescue had white appliances? We're wondering if any person or organisation collected one before they switched to red. Let us know if you have one!

1/4 Like other 'brigades' that were formed in the national reorganisation that came into effect on 1 April. 1974, @WestMidsFire reaches its 50th birthday today.

2/4 The first pumps to be bought by @WestMidsFire were 12 ERF 84PF Perkins V8.540-engined Pump Ladders. These were followed by 10 Dennis R133 PL's with more powerful Perkins V8.640 engines and then two annual batches of 8 Dennis R133's. A 1978 R133 is pictured. @WMFSHeritage

3/4 In the early years new @WestMidsFire appliances were finished in fluorescent red and some existing vehicles were repainted in this colour. Cost factors meant that the 'day glow' colour was dropped after a few years and the Dennis RS133 PL's were finished in traditional red.

4/4 The ERF and Dennis R pumps had fibreglass cabs while the RS133 had a steel ‘safety’ cab. The pic shows an RS133 turning out from a WMFS Muster Day at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham.

Another medical evacuation by @PompiersParis using rope rescue techniques and equipment. The person was transported to hospital using a special ambulance for bariatric cases.

🚨 [#Intervention] I Le 15 mars, vers 09h30, les sapeurs-pompiers de Paris sont intervenus pour un brancardage délicat à Villetaneuse (93). Plus d'informations 👇
