I’ve heard time and again that people think when a camp in DC is cleared that everyone got housed. Nope. That has never happened. Not once. Never will.
Idk what people think happens when you report an encampment, but they don't get any help. They get beat by police. They get fined and their tents, food, blankets, IDs, ashes of their loved ones, medicines, etc. thrown away. They get more traumatized + desperate than before.
I can’t get over how deeply damaging this statement is to trans people everywhere. The republicans are going to take this immediate capitulation and impose it everywhere. “We successfully forced a trans woman to pee in the men’s bathroom. We will do it to you too.”
