The Cubs clear priority of trading Cody Bellinger over calling any of the top free agents is bullshit.

With being seemingly out on Soto. For Pete’s sake, We’d be a step behind if we trade him just to rely on Shaw/Caissie. He saved us at least twice from getting no hit. Keep. Belli.

Would you prefer the Cubs to keep Cody Bellinger or trade him?

Damn good deal

Here’s my take: calling up the Men In Black and using the phaser and instead of trading Jed, keep him in and add on. Time to build a winner.

1) Cubs have spent right up to the cap or over the past 3 years. 2). If they can cut Bellinger and Hoerner contract they will save about 35 million. 3). Cubs are going to spend that 85 mil on something and there is a plan. 4). This team doesn't have a lot of holes.

As one of the top markets in baseball, each year ownership in recent years WITH JED has absolutely sucked. Considering Wrigley being one of the most expensive game day experiences and they operate the baseball side like a Cincinnati ball club, spend some money Tom.

Bob Nightengale commented on the current state of the Chicago Cubs this morning, and it's pretty much what we all expected: They have a massive market, yet they won't pay for any of the top free agents

Year four of a “retool” with ZERO playoff appearances and every offseason being a PAIN. This has to be the last off-season with Jed at the helm, legitimately sucks with the “intelligent spending” that went over the tax last season. Tom’s a certified loser too.

I have no inside info on this, but if you're reading the tea leaves on the trajectory of Cubs rumors and behavior over the offseason so far, it sure seems like they are planning to reduce payroll.

First two seconds is like watching a Bears game or the early Cubs bullpen last couple seasons

Sources involved in the Juan Soto talks expect the teams will begin forwarding offers this week. To date, the process has been about Soto meeting with teams/club officials, and about those officials getting to know Soto.
