RECYCLING EVENT IN SETAUKET THIS MORNING There is a Town of Brookhaven Recycling event this morning at the Setauket Fire Department at the Nicolls Rd Station. Includes paper-shredding, safe disposal of unused electronic devices, and prescription drug take back. Runs 9am to 1pm.

A year ago I was critical of the LIRR for buying 12 new diesel locomotives which have a 50 year life span. Today, I am pleased to see LIRR studying retrofitting trains with lithium ion batteries that would allow them to travel in non-electrified line like Port Jefferson.
