There are currently over 100 people in our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Hospital. Our colleagues are working really hard to see people as quickly as possible but with a high number of poorly patients in the department, there may be some long waits. 1/3

Our Urgent Treatment Centre at Blackburn Hospital is changing location from today. Patients should still book in using the iPad at the usual UTC reception, based at the front of the Emergency Department, but they will then be directed to its new home (via hospital main entrance)

Almost two thirds of people don’t know that you can self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies online to access treatment for anxiety and depression. The service is effective, confidential and free. You can refer yourself or talk to your GP: nhs.uk/talk.

Self-care is about finding ways to improve your health and wellbeing. There are things you do at home to help prevent health issues getting to the point of needing urgent medical help. If you're experiencing back pain, try a hot bath or ask your pharmacist about pain killers 🛁💊

Please be aware, our Emergency Department is currently really busy which could lead to long waits. Our teams are doing everything they can to see and treat patients as quickly and safely as possible, so please bear with them. Thank you for your patience and support 💙
