PANS and PANDAS are extremely serious but little understood paediatric conditions which can impact any child. On this 15th annual awareness day, I'm pleased to have raised this with the Prime Minister and secured his promise of a meeting for @PANSPANDASUK with the Health Dept.

It’s PANS PANDAS Awareness Day. Thank you to Rt Hon Wendy Chamberlain MP for raising the issue at Prime Minister’s Questions today.

Many thousands of children, young people and adults live with PANS and PANDAS. That’s why our incredible Youth Board decided to put the experts on the spot and ask them the questions which really matter to them. Watch the video at panspandasuk.org/ask-the-experts

People with aplastic anaemia receive similar treatment as people with blood cancer. A search for aplastic anaemia on NHS.uk gives results for unrelated, less serious conditions! Let’s get aplastic anaemia added to the NHS website. theaat.org.uk/addaa

#RareDiseaseDay falls on a rare date this year reminding us of the importance of raising awareness of rare diseases & increasing understanding & support of all those who live with a rare condition. #RareDisease - individually rare, collectively common. @GeneticAll_UK

Just a reminder. Cutting massive swathes of the registered nurse & other skilled workforce is how catastrophes like Mid Staffs happen. Putting financial performance before safety is common but the consequences are devastating. #PatientSafety #ValueNursing rcpjournals.org/content/future…

Proficient and expert workforces make more effective services increase productivity and improve quality and safety. They are a good return on investment #CNSValue

@NNUH this is why trust can't retain / recruit experienced nurses for clinical specialist nurses posts. CNS posts are a band 7 at most of the trusts in England. Nobody will accept a pay cut in order to work here. @DrNancyFontaine

Over several years in @10DowningStreet I collected advice for my son, Charlie: tomfletcher.global/blogs/details/… I asked world leaders what they would say to themselves at 14 years old. Mikhail Gorbachev was quite emotional as he wrote his. His translator helped too. Here it is. RIP

This week is International Adolescent Health Week. Such an important age that often gets overlooked in both childrens and adult services. But getting things right here can impact across the lifespan #iahw2022

In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future 🇺🇦 W & C

My report on ‘Children’s Mental Health Services’ today shows that access to NHS mental health for children remains a ‘postcode lottery’. Welcome improvements in some areas need rocket boosting across the country - children need support theargus.co.uk/news/19904045.…

As a 9yr old Pakistani girl, wearing a headscarf, arriving in England, I spoke no English, I felt different & for a long time felt I didn’t belong. I saw this quote on the wall at my secondary school library & it inspired me to be useful. #DesmondTutu #RIPDesmondTutu
