Long before it was 3D scanned, this Primnoa resedaeformis specimen was collected off the coast of Nova Scotia in the late 1800s! This slow-growing, long-lived cold-water coral is found in both sides of the Atlantic and is an indicator of vulnerable marine ecosystems.

We're grateful for the footage, expertise and of course, the puns! Many thanks to @USFWS for highlighting our recent collaboration with @NMNH's Invertebrate Zoology historic collection of freshwater mussels!

Native freshwater mussels are one shell of a friend. These "livers of the rivers" help to indicate healthy aquatic systems. @SIxDIGI recently announced an exciting collaboration to digitize over 45,000 specimens in their historic collection of freshwater mussels.
