The ‘90 editions of Top Of The Pops return next Friday with a double-bill of the 22 and 29 November 1996 editions, featuring Ant & Dec, Shed Seven, Bryan Adams, Garbage, Fugees, Belinda Carlisle, Louise, Skunk Anansie and Sheryl Crow. See you then? #TOTP

Clementine is a fucking banger, can't wait for it to appear

Mark's other number three hit was "Clementine" in February 1997 He also presented three editions of #TOTP between 1994 and 1995 (one alongside Robbie, Gary, Jason and Howard, one with just Robbie, and another solo). #TOTP

This is a pretty tune but towards the end it sounds rather worryingly reminiscent of There's No One Quite Like Grandma

The first and joint-biggest of six UK top 40 hits credited to Mark Owen, "Child" peaked at three. Mark also appeared on 28 UK top 40 hits (including twelve number ones) for Take That between November 1991 and March 2017. #TOTP

Billy "Dear Heart" Hartman, of course. Shame Bob wasn't on it, he's the best character

For the benefit of people who’ve never watched Emmerdale: The Woolpackers were cast members Steve Halliwell (Zak Dingle), Billy Hartman (Terry Woods), and Alun Lewis (Vic Windsor). #TOTP

That Simply Red/Boyzone/Robson and Jerome triple header was a nice one for the mums, shame they were all watching Corrie

The last of three UK top 40 hits - all of number ones – for Robson & Jerome, "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted" (part of a triple a-side, along with "Saturday Night At The Movies" and You'll Never Walk Alone") stayed at number one for two weeks. #TOTP

"Craaaaazy Moby!"

Moby had 19 UK top 40 hits between October 1991 and March 2005, but "Come On Baby" did not make the top 100. #TOTP

The "2nd Top 5 Hit" caption a wonderful example of this show's attention to detail

The second of five UK top 40 hits (including one number one) for Gina G, "I Belong To You" was at its number six peak. #TOTP

The 1983 #totp tonight is the one that starts with Simes cryptically referring to "a few problems" then never explaining what those are, but if you look carefully you'll note the entire show (apart from the Thompson Twins pre-record) uses only two stages throughout

"Craaaaazy Moby!"

It’s Top Of The Pops night! Join us from 7.00pm (BBC Four, hashtag #TOTP) for a double-bill of the 8 and 15 November 1996 editions, featuring Gina G, Björk, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, 911, Babyface, Moby, Simply Red, Boyzone, Robert Miles, Toni Braxton, The Woolpackers, and Mark Owen.
