A good turnout in #Sidcup today in remembrance of those who have given their lives in wars and conflicts. A #Remembrance Sunday Service at St John’s was followed by a ceremony at the War Memorial where the Lamorbey and Sidcup Local History Society laid a wreath of poppies.
The next Lamorbey and Sidcup #LocalHistory Society meeting is on 1 Oct. at 7.30pm at St Lawrence's Church Hall. It's our AGM - which will be kept short and sweet! - followed by a talk on Chaucer's Medieval Pilgrims by Martin Crowther. Visitors are very welcome to come along.

Despite the rain a group our members enjoyed a guided walk of #NorthCray this week led by @NorthCrayMal Sights included St James Church and houses grand and small of the old North Cray village - finishing, as all good walks should, with lunch in the nearest pub, The White Cross.

Our Society enjoyed a fascinating tour of Rose Bruford College in beautiful spring weather. From modern university buildings and impressive theatre spaces to the historic Lamorbey House, ending with the room where our Society was first formed in 1952! Thank you @rosebruford

The next Lamorbey and Sidcup #LocalHistory Society meeting is on 6 Feb. Dr John Price @JpaPrice is giving a talk on 'Baildon Street: the blackest street in Deptford?' referring to the Poverty Maps of social reformer Charles Booth for his Inquiry 1886-1903.
Our #Lamorbey Town Trail takes the walker along Station Road - what a contrast of architecture here now. Late Victorian shops, new block of flats, and 1930s shopping parade. There are plenty of cafes if you get thirsty while walking! #Sidcup #LocalHistory #walking
