I’ve been bobbing for 4 hours to speak on behalf of my constituents in the debate on rural affairs. I was on the speaking list. But I’ve not been called, and now the debate is winding up. Third time this has happened. This deeply uneven debate time undermines our Parliament.

"If COP didn't exist, we'd have to create it." @EllieChowns explains what exactly COP is and the importance of stepping up collective action in Baku.

Another productive morning blocking deniers & contrarians So you know I’m on here to try to raise awareness of accelerating impacts of global heating I’m not on here to debate climate change or to try to convince anyone If you don’t like or disagree with me ignore & unfollow.

This is so deeply sobering. The charts in this article say it all. This year the world will breach the 1.5C ceiling. Literally crashing and burning. The consequences of inaction will be catastrophic. This should be a wake up call to every politician. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Trump's election is a disaster for climate and social justice everywhere. But we won't let the politics of hate win. Join the Green Party today ⤵️

Today 2 things seem clear - the urgency of closer ties with EU neighbours, & importance of distinguishing between autocrat & demagogue Trump, & those who voted for him. The rise of populism reflects a failure of progressive politics - unless we address that, no country is immune

🌿Hadley & Leegomery Community Empowerment has been lacking. 14th November you can change that✅ With a focus on transparent governance and community engagement, Mark Webster will ensure your voice is heard and valued. 💪🌿 #Hadley #Leegomery #Deservebetter #RealHopeRealChange

Lots of disappointed people following this announcement. Please don't lose hope... Help us take our active travel legal challenge to the Court of Appeal. We need another £5750 by 12th November. Please donate and share crowdjustice.com/case/stop-the-…

We’re also providing an additional £100m to support cycling and walking: almost *tripling* investment in active travel compared to last year. This will help revitalise our high streets, deliver better air quality and improve public health. 🚴✅🚶

I spoke to @bbcmtd and @ITVCentral to give my reaction to the Budget yesterday. If the Government is serious about its environmental credentials it should be investing in nature-friendly farming and cleaning up our rivers - not cutting @DefraGovUK revenue budget.

The last government was great at growth Growth in sewage and water company dividends, "well done guys" @GreenJennyJones in full throttle sarcasm mode as she explains why growth for growths sake does not make most of us happy.

"infuriating" is a little too polite! Actively funding more delay in the uptake of tried&tested means to cut emissions will lead to more destruction of livelihoods/lives. And who will be at the front line of impacts; poor, low emitters, far from here & typically people of colour!

Rachel Reeves's budget promises "£3.9 billion of funding in 2025-26 for Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage Track-1 project". That's money straight down the toilet, with many billions more to follow. It's infuriating. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Chancellor didn’t mention climate or nature once in her budget speech. Unforgivable. This is a critical moment. Our entire economy rests on the health of our environment & this was a chance to reset to deliver a liveable future. #Budget2024

Shrewsbury Greens Reposted

Yet again, a Chancellor delivers a budget which makes absolutely no mention of the two biggest crises facing us - climate breakdown & nature degradation We will not *restore stability & rebuild Britain* if the natural world we all depend on is ignored #Budget2024

Shrewsbury Greens Reposted

It’s the job of govt to make public transport better and cheaper. Chancellor has abdicated this responsibility

This is why it’s wrong to freeze fuel duty while hiking bus fares by 50%.

People with over £10 million would barely notice a 1% tax, but it would make a world of difference for the rest of us who are dealing with NHS waiting lists, cold homes and poor public transport. Labour have missed an opportunity to close the inequality gap. #Budget

Shrewsbury Greens Reposted

Yet again a chancellor has ducked the issue of fuel duty by refusing to raise it as is legally required. This is costing the public purse billions and driving up carbon emissions. Govt should stop tax breaks for fossil fuels and invest instead in public transport #Budget2024

Shrewsbury Greens Reposted

A disaster. When the environment minister admits govt will today cut nature friendly farming £££, but says that's ok because of sops from housebuilders, I lose all hope @TheGreenParty says we must prioritise #nature or we have no food & no economy theguardian.com/environment/20…
