Right now, your Vice Chancellor is driving your uni off a financial and reputational cliff. There is no longer any reason to cooperate with them in this process. This academic year will be the last chance to expose managerial corruption while there is still something to salvage.
Resilience in academia: the ability to stick one's head in the sand and ignore everything while managers sell and cut everything beautiful about academia. Screw resilience.
The contemporary British university really is an anxiety machine. How can we be expected to work in such conditions and stay well?
First step : Support a leader that embodies Starfleet values like diversity, inclusion and ethical behavior.
When tuition fees were introduced, university degrees had value from decades of academic credibility. VCs exploited that value to cynically sell degrees and use the short-term income to justify their own pay. Now, years of extraction without investment has left UK unis barren.
