Great thread for info— whole article linked in thread.

On Friday, the Texas State Board of Education approved a state-authored curriculum under intense scrutiny in recent months for its heavy inclusion of biblical teachings. Here’s what you need to know about the new lessons and how an Abbott-appointee became the deciding vote. 🧵

Y’all, Important thread to read:

Howdy Texas friends! I don't know about you, but I really think our democracy would be served by seeing the House Ethics Committee report on Matt Gaetz. You know who else does? Texas Senator John Cornyn. (1/12)

Rural Texas has loyally supported the Texas GOP, even saving the GOP from defeat in 2018 when it came to Beto vs. Cruz. So, you’d think Abbott’s GOP wouldn’t stab their big, bejeweled voucher knife into rural Texas’s back. But that’s the plan.

The willfully ignorant who are fed disinformation won't be able to figure it out until after it is a done deal and public education is destroyed.

AMAZING: Voters in Amarillo, Texas, have rejected the city’s abortion travel ban. This victory comes after months of local organizing. The message is clear: Texans want to protect reproductive freedom — and will do so when given the opportunity.

I don't trust Abbott, Patrick and Paxton to run a fair election. From a Texas voter. All 3 would cheat their grandma if they had a chance. Get out and vote blue to save Texas!

Texas voter here. @GregAbbott_TX is corrupt. His carpetbagging lapdog @DanPatrick (aka Danny Goeb), is corrupt. And @KenPaxtonTX is the most corrupt of all.

One of the most historically and currently voter suppressed states in the US doesn't want the feds keeping an eye on its elections. I wonder why?

Secretary Nelson confirms in a letter to the @TheJusticeDept that federal monitors are not permitted in Texas polling locations under state law. Texans can be confident in the state’s strong measures to ensure election integrity.

Just a reminder that all your Republican friends in Texas you think aren't going to vote for Trump are voting for Trump-and Cruz. It is our job as rural Democrats to cancel as many of them out as possible. Give the bi cities a helping hand. Get out there and get every vote

Imagine a Texas where you can actually register to vote online. In the year 2024, 30 years after the internet computer thingy caught on. My god, next thing you know we will be able to get a DMV appt in the same year. It could happen y'all. If we elected Democrats here.

42 states plus DC offer online voter registration—yet Texas still lags behind. Every session, I’ve filed a bill to expand OVR and every session it’s met resistance. I’ll file it again on the first day of bill filing. It’s time we make OVR accessible for all Texans. #txlege

Why, other than preparing for a post-election lawsuit, is Paxton seeking data on voters without a driver’s license or Texas ID card, neither of which are required by law in order to vote? It’s too late to use the data to suppress voting in this cycle, Ken. kut.org/politics/2024-…

I literally live on the border and have never heard of an illegal immigrant edging out American citizens for homes and contributing to increased home prices. You know what did raise prices of homes in my area? @elonmusk (Starbase is 30 minutes away from me)

Lubbock, Texas voting locations. Two east of I-27. Dozens west of I-27. Guess which side most of the white folks live?
