Our new paper, published today, shows lack of human genetic evidence of a role for NLRP3 inflammasome in Parkinson's disease. Why is this important? See below. Study led by @Senkkon1 in collaboration with @mike_nalls, @HamptonLLeonard and others. nature.com/articles/s4153…

#YoungMembersGroup author highlights: Drs. Siciliano & Ricciardi (1st & last authors). They report more than 1/3 of people with Parkinson’s have subjective cognitive complaints (even without objective cognitive impairment). doi.org/10.1002/mds.29…

In this case report, we identified the SNCA p.E46K mutation in a family with Russian ancestry. This is the third family in the world known to carry this variant. This further emphasizes the importance of genetic screening across diverse populations! …mentdisorders.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/md…

Such great news!

Researchers in Canada got most of what they were hoping for in the country’s 2024 federal budget, with a big boost in postgraduate pay and more funding for research and scientific infrastructure go.nature.com/4azQ8Ft

Glad to see this published. Further refining the power of genetics in clinical trials!

Published today, our reasons for optimism that success rates in drug discovery can be improved by picking the right targets using human genetics: nature.com/articles/s4158… I break the key findings down panel by panel in this thread: x.com/cureffi/status…
