Junior doctors in England, thank you for voting in the referendum and making your voices heard. The votes are tallied and 65.97% of you voted to ACCEPT the Government’s offer. Your committee met this evening to ratify the result. We’ll be in touch soon about what happens next.
So pleased to have been elected back into JDC (soon to be RDC) with all the change this year looks like I have some incredible opportunities to do some real good!! Also congrats to some of my fellow members @DrEilidhMaria @_VivekTrivedi #bma
Nurse practitioners are crucial to the delivery of safe, effective acute medical care. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal working with them. They’re not the enemy and I’d be very suspicious of anybody who tells you they are.
Day 2 of the @TheBMA East of England Tour! Good to speak to lots of #juniordoctors at Norfolk & Norwich Hospital who have voted 🗳️ yes and encouraging them to remind their colleagues! #BMADoctorsVoteYes #PayRestoration
For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

I want to bring a wider consideration and humanity to my royal college council. Despite being in "schools" we are professional adults who deserve dignity in our training and to be valued in our systems. 1/2

Given the low moral, lack of true NHS investment and the cost of living crisis! The government has left out yet again large group of professionals who are struggling the most in the medical profession when will this underinvestment end! Pay us what we are worth @TheBMA #bma #nhs
We have accepted the recommendations from the independent pay review bodies in full, giving over 1 million NHS workers a pay rise of at least £1,400, on top of 3% from last year.
Today’s risible pay announcement is nothing less than a betrayal of the profession. It leaves junior doctors in England no choice but to press ahead with preparations for a ballot for industrial action. Statement from @DrSarahHal @MikeJKemp bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent…
