HUGE NEWS!! @hackneycouncil have conceded that the consultation on Children’s Centre closures was *unlawful* so WE WON OUR CASE!!🎉 THANK YOU to all our supporters for helping us to achieve this huge victory! And to our legal team💪🏻 @ris_law @SteveBroach rookirwinsweeney.co.uk/hackney-counci…
Hackney council has not even delivered 30% social homes in the almost 4000 delivered since 2011 btw Those truly council-owned assumedly even less so
Really great piece of local reporting on @the_londonspy this morning on how a glut of luxury flats could be forcing kids out of Hackney schools - which is rather different from the council's official narrative. thelondonspy.co.uk/p/have-luxury-…
We desperately need journalists and citizens to ask questions of @hackneycouncil on the forces expulsion of families in the borough. From schools to children's centres, it's endemic. The official narrative isn't adding up.

I submitted a Freedom of Information request to @HackneyCouncil in May. They are supposed to reply within 20 working days. I'm still waiting six months later. This is standard for them. I think they're the worst local authority at responding to FOIs.
Did you know that we offer an ‘EHCP Health Check’ service? It is intended to help parents resolve issues with their child’s #EHCP and provide initial advice ahead of an #AnnualReview. You can find out more here: rookirwinsweeney.co.uk/new-fixed-fee-…
Do you have a child aged five or under? Have you used a childminder or nursery in the last 12 months? If so, we’d like to hear your views on what good childcare looks like and the difference it makes to your family. Our short survey only takes a few minutes. To take part by…
Hours and hours spent campaigning... some of us whilst we were at home taking unpaid or low paid maternity leave to care for our young babies. Sad state of affairs, not least given Hackney is supposed to be a 'Child-Friendly Borough' and feminist @carowoodley @mayorofhackney
Thinking about two rounds of campaigning by #Hackney residents to stop the closure of Children’s Centres. So many time-poor parents & carers out leafleting, demonstrating , fighting, not giving up. Will @hackneycouncil @carowoodley finally listen & stop threatening our nurseries?
A quarter of parents will need to leave the workforce if providers increase fees by 10 per cent to cover the rise in employer National Insurance contributions (NICs) and national minimum wage. nurseryworld.co.uk/content/news/p…

The story of how parent campaigners and childcare workers joined forces to open community nurseries and children’s centres during the 1970s and 80s is told through a new website that maps childcare activism in London. nurseryworld.co.uk/content/news/n…
Parents, who brought a judicial review against Hackney Council, are celebrating a huge win after the local authority admitted its consultation on children’s centre closures was ‘unlawful’. nurseryworld.co.uk/content/news/p…
.@HackneyAbbott thank you for standing with us and our kid. Will @hackneycouncil , @carowoodley now stand up for our children too and commit to save our children's centres?
Big congratulations to campaigners fighting to save Hackney Children’s Centres for winning the first round in the battle @SebrightCC @Save_Fernbank
Hackney Council backs down amid children’s centre closure legal challenge - CYP Now cypnow.co.uk/content/news/h…
.@hackneycouncil you appear to have missed something out (again). You conceded the case because you admitted the consultation was so unfair it was unlawful @carowoodley care to correct the record?
This is the kind of cold, callous, inadequate & disrespectful comms sent out by @hackneycouncil officers to #Hackney’s hardworking Children’s Centre staff at affected centres who have been living with the possibility of losing their jobs for months/years for Fernbank. Shameful.

The authorities can be so intransigent. What you have achieved to get this result is momentous 🎉
Huge congratulations to all children, parents, teachers and activists who fought tirelessly. Shame on @HackneyLabour for failing in its consultation. @hackneycitizen please watch the council closely on its 'consultations' with the latest schools threatened with closure!

Our campaign’s win against @hackneycouncil was featured on the @BBCLondonNews tonight! So proud at what we’ve achieved but so angry & sad that it took legal action to make the council listen to residents. @carowoodley must now commit to safeguarding #Hackney’s Children’s Centres!

@thetimes recognises our work on free school meals for disabled children, our judicial review challenging a consultation on closing children’s centres in Hackney and our challenge to proposed cuts to short breaks services for disabled children. 2/2
