Steve Reed delays decision to 12 Jan. Will gov. give @AnglianWater ยฃ277m to move fully-functioning sewage plant? Total cost surges to over ยฃ400m. And then there's the carbon. @GeorgeMonbiot @natalieben @carolecadwalla @Jane45665825 @JCalvertST @Balelt41 @XR BSE @BBCCambs

Beautiful Quy Fen today.See how low the water is. You couldn't walk here earlier this year because of flooding. @AnglianWater plan to build huge sewage works nearby funded by public money, cheered on by those with vested interests.@SaveHoneyHill1 @greenarteries

DEFRA has advised Cambridge Water that they could take the following measures, which they are currently resisting. From DEFRA:
Brilliant letter.
Nature is dying. Today we begin to chart a new course. The new Government will urgently review the Environmental Improvement Plan for England, building out an ambitious programme to save nature.

Appreciate the South Camb MP's commitment to environmental protection, but concerning that this stance seems at odds with not supporting @SaveHoneyHill1 Moving the sewage works will potentially impact a chalk aquifer & the Cam River. Hope to see alignment in actions & words ๐ง๐
Thatโs great - but rings rather hollow given LibDems support for the removal of well functioning Milton sewage plant to Green Belt in @pippaheylings neck of the woods compromising the chalk aquifer.@cam_friends Time to change @SouthCambs ? @SaveHoneyHill1
New South Cambs MP Pippa Heylings makes maiden speech a homage to chalk streams.

Today is #ThankYouDay, so while the battle to #SaveCotonOrchard isnโt over we wanted to pause & say thank everyone who has spoken up, shown up, rolled up their sleeves, and dug in for Nature in Cambridgeshire ๐
Seems improbable but even in recent conversations people either have no idea, or think itโs a new plant to add capacity. Similarly for the C2C busway. Participants of the recent bioblitz in Coton had no clue one was proposed through the Orchard, even a Cambourne based ecologist.
A recommendation has been made on whether the new Cambridge sewage works should be built or not. However, we won't know what that recommendation is until a decision is made in a few months time. More here ๐ cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridgeโฆ
A โbonkers idea of the highest orderโโ๏ธ Brilliant, hard fought campaign. Not only did these champions for nature speak loudly, genius @LizcottonCotton distilled this complex story into a clear song. I hope you prevail, #SaveHoneyHill & those with the power to decide hear you ๐
And here's Catherine again, set to our protest song Honey Hill, Honey. ๐ถโค๏ธโ๐ฅThanks for all the love.
Will nature be made a priority this time and we @SaveHoneyHill1โ Most in Cambs don't realize this ยฃ.3 billion publicly funded scheme isn't for adding capacity but to move an already fully functioning sewage works into greenbelt to allow building on the existing site ๐๐ป

Lovely piece by @CambsOpenMedia about the @cam_friends Rights of the River event last night in Cambridge. Amazing atmosphere and serious critique of those sewage dumpers there.

โthe deciding factor on their fate will inevitably come down to the rate of development in the city. The environmental agency has already raised concernsโ Cambridgeโs chalk streams are under threat, and thatโs a problem | Varsity varsity.co.uk/features/27806
โThe Environment Agencyโs current projection is by 2027 just 6% of Englands rivers will be in good ecological condition!' @Feargal_Sharkey | #RestoreNatureNow
The @SaveHoneyHill1 campaigners have challenged both LibDems candidates in Cambridge & South Cambs over the Anglian Water proposed move. Doesn't look like they will change their position. Note Conservative manifesto backs Gove's 'Case for Cambridge' public.conservatives.com/static/documenโฆ
