The Laurent group is back again working with the pogona. They found that light pulses can reset or entrain the alternation between REM and slow wave sleep. Through careful tests, they conclude that this ultradian rhythm works like a CPG. nature.com/articles/s4158…

📢 Our newest preprint is up—just in time for SfN! Come by the nano Tues am N228 for the 10 min version, or see 🧵 The unexpected punchline: when a chickadee looks at a place from a distance, the SAME place codes activate as if it were actually there 👁️ t.ly/wr5_J

Checkout our new manuscript on mixed-species hunting by octopus fish groups. Turns out, both parties benefit from these interactions and cheaters are punished with punches! Amazing work lead by @OctoEduardo!

Some octopus and fish species appear to share leadership when hunting prey together, according to a paper in @NatureEcoEvo The findings broaden our understanding of the sophisticated cross-species social life of octopuses and fish. go.nature.com/3BobPv7

Out now in @CurrentBiology, our new paper identifies an olfactory receptor that mediates male attraction to females, but enforces avoidance of parental care. A thread that leads to an unexpected twist in regulation of social behavior! cell.com/current-biolog…
