We train PhD students to put together a well thought-out research proposal, but for 94% the project does not end up going according to plan. We need to also train young scientists to being open to following the data and the ideas to wherever they lead.

A super interesting paper! Glad to have collaborated with @LeebaAnnChacko to present this preLight. Have a look if cytoplasmic crowding and its regulation piques your interest.

Go big or go home 🏠 @LeebaAnnChacko & @SameerThukral6 highlight a #preprint from Catherine Tan, Fred Chang @fredchanglab and colleagues finding that larger yeast cells boost cytoplasmic diffusion. Check it out 👀👇 prelights.biologists.com/highlights/int…

Great time hosting Fumio Motegi, my cell polarity hero @BDR_RIKEN Incredible phenomenology of flow and forces in cytoplasm and at cortex. Mechano-chemical interplay in morphogenesis never ceases to amaze. Thank you for such a feast of science and lots of encouragement to ECRs.

Prof Fumio Motegi gave a career talk about learnings from failure at the recent BDR-Launchpad event for ECRs. Learning that seasoned researchers cherish both success AND failure was enlightening! Thank you for your time! @RIKEN_BDR @BDR_RIKEN #ECRs #BDRLaunchpad @dev_mechanics
