#PublicSpeaking anxiety is not out of your control. 1. Focus on your point, not on your presence 2. Think "I'm excited" not "I'm nervous" 3. Practice out loud, not in your head. (How to make a point: bit.ly/joelpoint) #presentation

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” ―Vince Lombardi

Don't speak over time. You know the timing for your presentation keeps to it. Going over is a lack of respect for your audience, fellow speakers, and the organizers.

I often see panelists and interviewees speak for too long, typically ending sentences with "but", "and," and "so," which only force more words. Recognize when you've completed your point, end on a period, and stop. The more you add, the more you dilute the point you just made.

Watching recordings of your speeches can help you identifie unnecessary movements that can distract your audience. #publicspeaking #publicspeaker

PUBLIC SPEAKING DON'TS: Don't data dump, making your presentation more dynamic and fun is proved to be more successful, people tend to remember things more if they were funny to them. Its better to leave out information rather than having a bored audience.

"Best way to conquer stage fright is to know what you are talking about" Michael H. Mescon

+it seems he wanted to have a serious conversation about ageism in Hollywood, the only thing the audience could grasp out of the speech is that even at his age he can still do pushups. Sometimes even the best ideas have the worst executions!

+Even though it is clear that what he is trying to do is to demonstrate (while doing pushups) that he can do whatever a young actor can do, the message gets lost. It looks like he didn't think about the message he wanted to communicate before delivering the speech because while+

WORST SPEECHES EVER ⚠️(We are not attacking/harassing Jack Palance we are just analyzing his public speaking technique)⚠️ While at the beginning of his speech it seems that jack is about to give a critique on Hollywood's ageism problem, it suddenly takes a turn to the bizarre+

Don’t compare yourself to other speakers, because no one is more qualified to deliver your point than you are. Be the strongest communicator YOU can be. (How to make a point: bit.ly/joelpoint) #presentations #publicspeaking
