We've completed a massive 1km of river restoration in the Poaka catchment this summer. A significant de-culverting, riparian fencing, wetland scrapes and leaky dams! Read more about it 🔎 scrt.co.uk/news/culverts-… #habitat #rivers #Cumbria

Another annual Patrons event done - this year it was all about @LIFER4everKent! We got to tour the fantastic @freshwaterbio species recovery centre to see Freshwater Pearl Mussels, ending in Kentmere learning all about our river restoration work! #dayout #Cumbria

There are 10 new leaky dams in the Winster valley thanks to one excellent #volunteer and two SCRT staff members! Leaky dams slow the flow and trap sediment - improving floodplain connectivity, water quality and reducing flood risk downstream! #Cumbria #delivery #dayinthelifeof

Sammy has been out spotting invasive species - this is Monkeyflower. Although it may displace native riparian plants it doesn't cause a sig. risk to natural ecosystems like Himalayan Balsam or Japanese Knotweed. Read more here: nonnativespecies.org/assets/Uploads…

Thank you to our attendees in the #duddonvalley last week. What would be a #riverfly training course without rain anyway :) #Rivers #volunteering #waterquality

A soggy day in Seathwaite attending the @SCRiversTrust Riverfly training day 🌧️ A great site to sample for the practical session in the afternoon as we found 5/6 groups and more! #riverflypartnership #invertebrates #cumbria #environment #nature #wildlife #river

There is one last opportunity to attend this free training, where you will learn all about river invertebrates and how to #monitor your local river! #cumbria #citizenscience #waterquality

We're working with partners on the exciting @LIFER4everKent project, which will see these little ones released at chosen locations! #speciesrecovery #rivers #cumbria

At the Species Recovery Centre we are preparing some juvenile mussels for a summer release into their native rivers. ✨ Recently we tagged over 200 juveniles which will enable us to identify individuals in our post-release monitoring. 📷 Jodie Warren, Pearl Mussel Assistant

Another eel pass coming soon to South #cumbria. We have just picked up the latest set of eel trays from the fabricators! #endangeredspecies #rivers #migration

It's #InvasiveSpeciesWeek! Monitoring and reporting is vital in order to track the spread of invasive species. Fancy becoming a riverfly volunteer? We have a course next Tuesday in the #duddon valley: scrt.co.uk/events/ #rivers #waterquality

#InvasiveSpeciesWeek So, what should you do if you see invasive non-native species whilst out riverfly monitoring?🧐 Please head to the link below to find the answer to this question and links to helpful guidance: riverflies.org/faqs

The @freshwaterbio and @LancasterUni are crowdfunding, to carry out the #BigWindermereSurvey this summer! You can support this fantastic #citizenscience programme today: crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-big-wind… #windermere #lakedistrict

107 sites sampled for the Spring 2024 #BigWindermereSurvey and sent for bacterial and nutrient analysis. A huge thank you to our #CitizenScientists. But we need your help again! We need to raise £30,000 to fund the summer 2024 survey. Please visit/share: crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-big-wind…
