This afternoon, @AGAlanWilson announced grants totaling more than $10.6 million going to 39 agencies and non-profit groups that help crime victims in the Midlands and Pee Dee. Statewide, the grants total more than $26 million, with most coming from federal fines & fees.

On the 1st day of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, @AGAlanWilson led the 27th annual Silent Witness ceremony to honor victims of fatal domestic violence last year. He read the names of 24 women and 6 men, with a silhouette representing each victim.

The 27th Annual Silent Witness ceremony to remember the victims of domestic violence is still scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m., at the South Carolina Statehouse, on the south side of the building.

Attorney General Alan Wilson announces the state’s price gouging law is in effect, since Gov. McMaster declared a state of emergency in preparation for Tropical Storm Debby. The price gouging law (SC §39-5-145) is a general prohibition of unconscionable prices during a disaster.
