Carbon offsetting projects selling void carbon credits off land that is increasingly being deforested.
By protecting trees the project generates carbon credits which are then used by polluters to compensate for their own emissions elsewhere — but are these projects really working as well as their promotors say? climatechangenews.com/2023/10/05/exp…

For a live commentary on Duarte Agostinho hearing yesterday 27/09/23, read Corina Heri's tweet thread. This is one of current climate cases in the European Court of Human Rights. Thank you for the live window into the case, Corina. 💪🌎🌍🌏
Last week, I promised to live tweet the Duarte Agostinho hearing at the ECtHR - and set out the key reasons why this case is so exciting (and contested). Today I’ll be making good on my promise, starting right now!
Whether someone supports climate activism or not, or just some of its expressions (and with appropriate argumentation, all sides have merits), this scene is strong. At the very least to make us stop and think; to consider what they feel/believe to be out there doing that.

The approach of world "leaders" is fundamentally wrong: "new economic models which recognise the immense value of nature for humanity". Nature is not a commodity nor part of an economic model. We need to re-evaluate and rethink everything we do. theguardian.com/environment/20…
A very engaging conversation moderated by @lisa_marzano followed, with brilliant panellists @DrDilmperi, @christa_sathish and @helloAndreLeon, giving a 360degrees account of PGR students wellbeing needs, and paving the way for future work.
We are very grateful to @Trish_Jackman for sharing insights and findings (research project funded by @NetworkSmarten) at our seminar last week. Trish spoke about support strategies implemented at induction and the need for the supervisors' role to be about guiding and not fixing
Looking forward to the MH and Wellbeing seminar at @MiddlesexUni, Wed 14/6 13h. Very glad to welcome guest speaker @Trish_Jackman from @LincolnSportEx @LincsSpExPsych who will share insights into strategies to support researchers, from a @NetworkSmarten project!
Very insightful seminar hosted by @BIICL on Deep Seabed Mining & International Law, considering the necessity for a precautionary approach.
