Absolutely loved seeing my UNC colleagues on Zoom last night so I could give a practice run of my SCS talk on Lucan’s snakes. A lot of great questions/comments and many texted me after saying they were grossed out, but found the argument engaging. I consider that a win!

At Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran: 3 yo daughter: “Can we climb into that treehouse? My wife: “That is called an altar. And no, we cannot.”

Today’s the day! The family is moving to Rome for my fellowship! We are excited and nervous, but this should be an incredible adventure. Feeling grateful! Not pictured: our kids loving the airplane life

Submitted my first academic job application today! I am simultaneously proud and downright terrified.

Recently finished Gabrielle Zevin’s “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.” An absolutely incredible book. The writing was some of the most vivid and engaging I have ever read, and it doesn’t help that it talks a lot about video games;) Would definitely recommend!

Had the awesome opportunity of presenting my paper, “Nominum Umbrae: Lucan’s Confusingly Multivalent Names” yesterday at Durham University’s conference on Lucan and I think it went really well! Really excited for everyone else’s presentations to come over the next couple days.

So excited for game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. These playoffs have been absolutely delightful as a fan whose team missed the playoffs. Hoping for a good, close game tonight.

The hardest part of leaving North Carolina for the year is not the packing, cleaning, or leaving dear friends, but the thought that I wasn’t able to beat Elden Ring before going. Ended at the Maliketh fight:( (I am very sad to leave all my friends and mentors! Bye NC!)

Very excited to receive the news that I will be speaking at the SCS this January on the Epicurean dissolution of the human body and the futility of civil war in Lucan’s Bellum Civile. Looking forward to seeing and making friends in Philly!

So incredibly hyped for this game. The first installment was the most immersive game I’ve ever played. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

We hope you enjoyed the #KCDII reveal ⚔️ Watch our announcement trailer again or discover it here: bit.ly/KCDII_Announce… #KingdomComeDeliverance

Whoa. New @eidola album is incredible. So much harder and darker than previous albums, and the entire band has improved in every way. Best album experience I’ve had in a while. Favorites: No weapon formed shall prosper God takes away everything Golgotha compendium: fifth temple

Well I know what I’m talking about in church today

thinking about Pete Oswald, a skier who found an injured 88 lb sheep sliding down the slopes of Hector Mountains and carried it to safety

In one of the crazier things to happen in my life, I have been awarded a fellowship to write my dissertation in Rome next year!! I’m terrified of all the moving parts of moving a family overseas, but I’m very excited and grateful for this incredible opportunity!

I don’t think any band has been as consistent from album to album as @BaysideBand Their new album is fantastic! Excellent lyrics, love the instrumentals, and the solos are brilliant. Faves right now: The Devils Go to Hell Say So Long #ThereAreWorseThingsThanBeingAlive

Just sent a draft of my second chapter to my advisor! I had a difficult, but rewarding time writing about Lucan's end of the world, and I hope my advisor finds it engaging and compelling.

This is VERY bad news for my dissertation…

Stardew Valley 1.6 is now available on PC

My current thought as I'm writing this chapter of my dissertation: Lucan's phrase "discors machina" (discordant machine) would be an awesome band name. New band name I call it!! *insert Andy Dwyer gif*

Absolutely amazing content🤣

Today I noticed that the Folger's Shakespeare Library softcovers look suspiciously like cans of LaCroix. Here is a 🧵of pairings, starting with A Midsummer Night's Dream and a lovely can of fizzy lemon water.
