This weekend, we come together to honour those who laid down their lives to keep our country safe. The freedoms we enjoy today – our democracy, our values, our way of life – have been hard won over generations. We remember them today and always.
As the nation pauses for a two-minute silence, may we reflect on the service, the courage and sacrifice of so many over the generations. They will not be forgotten.

Tomorrow we pause, remember and reflect. This week I presented a Community Champion Award to the group of volunteers who have looked after Rutherglen’s war memorial - 100 years old this year - and dedicated time to keeping it clean and tidy. Thank you to them.
