I’m not much for tweeting now but couldn’t resist sharing the view from the field behind us. It seems blue flax is the new oilseed rape, and long may it last

Now that’s something you don’t see in the Waitrose in Daventry. #Alicante is en feria and there’s no escape, even in the supermarket.

Dare I suggest you leave the kids at home on Thursday, @JamesDelingpole and join the dream team at the Maltsters?

How about practising what you preach, ⁦@NorthantsPolice⁩?

Ah, the grass is always greener. You miss Cornish pasties over there. And when you get home you miss the unlimited supplies of Yazidi schoolgirls to rape. Eeny meeny miney mo. digitaledition.telegraph.co.uk/editions/editi…

A legislative priority, surely.

The law should go further. If any political followers want to introduce a Criminal Illustration (Gavels) Bill we would back them.

In his latest article now on Juriosity, 'Stretching the elastic until it snaps', @RupertHiggins of @hardwickelaw answers the question 'How long have you got to apply for relief from forfeiture for non-payment of rent?' bit.ly/2AM4nrP

Yes

Britain is on the cusp of a great political and economic renewal. Will the Tories blow it? spectator.co.uk/2018/12/britai…

Hmmm. Yes the striking off might have had more to do with the brazen theft of hundreds of thousands of pounds of clients’ money, than the failure to pay counsel.

I see the turkeys are enthusiastically voting for Christmas

Spoken to 3 MPs I have long had down as ‘no confidence’ swing votes—one minister, one former and one backbencher—and all say they are voting May. But, interestingly, all want her to go soon after March 29

You know you’re getting old when you can remember a day when this sort of thing would have been a resigning matter.

No prizes for guessing who’s unimpressed

This is why I love the @spectator They don’t just publish intelligent arguments, but equally intelligent and respectful counter-arguments.

In the Guards Regiments it is apparently known as a ‘Scots Guards piss’, where you pretend to leave a party to go to the toilet, but actually sneak out altogether.

In English, a "French exit" is to sneak out of a party without telling anyone. In French, it is known as "partir à l’anglaise" - to leave the English way.

One reads a lot about Theresa’s much-admired ‘resilience’. The thing I wonder about people with that degree of resilience is: how do they ever know when they are making a mistake?

There definitely are plenty of Tories who admire her resilience - including among those who simply disagree with her on the topic. I'd suggest questioners described as supportive and hopefully seeking ways to sell her deal are supportive voices. twitter.com/DPJHodges/stat…

Far from the starkest yet. Starker warnings issued in 2007 (5 years) 2011 (still 5 years) 2017 (3 years). Maybe that’s where the problem lies with these endless millenarian predictions of ‘catastrophe’.

Barely 2 weeks since the world’s scientists issued starkest warning yet - just 12 years to prevent climate catastrophe We needed climate emergency budget But not one word, not a single word And I get cut off when I raise it #Budget2018

Can’t help but be a bit disappointed in mine: ‘Marburg virus’?’Industrial strength’? And ‘blind carbon copy’ is less interesting for having appeared in 1968 than for still being with us 50 years later, when you bcc someone into an email
