Fun fact: Abduljalal will be reading from his debut poetry collecting this weekend!

‘Vermillion’ by @AbduljalaalMusa is a poignant portrayal of grief, as the narrator wrestles with their mother’s memory and its enduring impact on their relationship. 🎨Rohini Mani addastories.org/vermillion/

Bulama Bukarti has given a thorough breakdown of how the newly proposed tax reform bill will drag the northern side of the country to its knees. No one has explained it any better. If this bill becomes a law, we are totally gone as a region. Forewarned is to be forewarned.

With the exception of Jaiz and May be Taj, none of these has crossed the threshold of Kano and one or two northern states.

Not quite true, Jaiz & Taj Banks are wholly Arewa owned and they've bn doing a lot to support Northern businesses. Also some Arewa businesses like Tiamin, Ammassco, Rano, Sahad are also doing well and have employed several Arewa youths. But on the whole, Arewa needs to wake up!!!

I understand, but still the government can offer systematic solutions to the “systemic issues”

It’s a systemic issue, not just about the availability of employable doctors—there aren’t enough. A single post may not convey the solution, but key steps include training and retention, incentivization, funding, and leveraging technology.

But why? Why can’t we have at least one doctor in every PHC? most of the PHCs especially in the rural area were only the healthcare access for the citizens, is it the government can’t afford or there are no unemployment doctors in the state?

What happened at the Dutse PHC is a stark reminder of the realities we face in our healthcare system. CHEWs managing a toddler with fever & convulsions is far from ideal, but it also shows why supervised task-shifting is crucial. We can’t always have doctors in every PHC.

This boy— Muhammad from Suleja, Who is busy stirring the lively nest of hornets among Izala venerated Sheikhs, despite emanating from them, paid a courtesy visit to Dutsen Tanshi aka Dr. Jaki. This meeting suggests a shared-agenda. He has found a like-minded ally in the struggle.

Northern Nigeria’s stagnation is no mystery when so much energy is squandered on trivial, pointless debates. Last week alone, you wasted days fixating on whether a former governor’s daughter dressed more modestly at her wedding than his successor’s daughter. Then you moved on…
