Friend of mine just turned 50, got a colonoscopy. Turns out he has cancer in his colon and it’s spread to his liver. He’s about to start chemo; prognosis is optimistic (God willing) but he’s in for a rough 6 months. Get a colonoscopy when you turn 50, folks!!!!
There is no emerging Republican majority. There is no quickly or easily emerging Democratic majority. There is Red America and there is Blue America, each increasingly separate from the other and, it seems, increasingly hostile to the other.
When Americans from opposing political tribes are arguing over which side uses the most violence-inducing rhetoric, we’re all losing. We need leaders who unite and heal divisions. The reality is that the President has the biggest megaphone to do so. He instead inflames the hate.
I've been as critical of Trump's indecency/dehumanization as anyone. Nor do I think Democrats (who are hardly sinless) can hope to match him. But from their recent comments many Ds seem to think his in-the-gutter style needs to be replicated. I think it's a mistake. We'll see.
Most commentary re: BK-Ford would lead you to believe those who hold views different than you aren't just wrong but malicious/malevolent. There's no acknowledgement that honorable people can come down on different sides; that good people can actually have a different perspective.
