My first first author paper out in Current Biology today, after a year and two days since I started the experiments. Our paper shows that female’s permissiveness may facilitates the diversification of sexual signals in their early stage. This is over now, more will come soon..

.@Renjie__Zhang's new paper. A mutation causing male crickets to have puny little wings and squeaky little voices doesn't stop them being attractive. Maybe even makes them *more* attractive. Implications for humans??? doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.…

Excited to share my new paper featured by @UBCNews! Our synthesis of 60 studies reveals that bacterial infections in ectothermic animals are deadlier at higher temperatures, while fungal pathogen virulence change varies by context. Read more: news.ubc.ca/2024/12/climat…

Really enjoyed giving my first-ever lecture as part of the Science of Race and Racism module in @SchoolofBiology at @univofstandrews today. I taught about the history of scientific racism and how scientists, and specifically biologists, need to reckon with our fields’ past. (1/5)

🚨New paper alert 🚨From her time in our lab, the amazing @evolutiomary demonstrates that the calling behaviour of male Pacific field cricket is a circadian trait and therefore could be a target for natural selection imposed by a parasitoid fly. So cool! doi.org/10.1093/beheco…
