Thank you @Jess4Lowestoft for highlighting this to your followers 🙏 @jessphillips

There is a disturbing link between animal abuse and domestic abuse. #BreakingTheLink requires us to understand it and make it part of our strategy to combat domestic abuse. @Naturewatch_org

Fantastic Q&A session at the end of our 'Animals in Domestic Abuse' meeting in Parliament that we hosted with @APDAWG1 Thanks to the organisations & individuals who attended & gave their input - a multi-agency approach is crucial to #BreakingTheLink between animal & human abuse.

Important conversation with @Naturewatch_org highlighting how pets can be used by perpetrators of domestic abuse. Together, we can protect pets to protect people too #BreakingTheLink #DomesticAbuseAwarenessMonth

Pets can be used within domestic abuse cases in order to coercively control victims. I attended the @Naturewatch_org and @APDAWG1 meeting in Parliament to highlight how, by protecting animals, we can protect people too. #BreakingTheLink, together. 🤝

To learn more about how animals are used as a strategy of coercive control, please join our free webinar on the 6th December co-delivered with our @TheLinksGroup partners. For more information and to book a place: lnkd.in/e2jbX3rm #BreakingtheLink

Thank you so much to all the MPs who joined us yesterday at our joint 'Animals in Domestic Abuse' event with @APDAWG1 It was encouraging to see cross-party concern regarding the link between animal abuse and domestic abuse. #BreakingTheLink will make communities safer for ALL.

Pleased to meet up with @Naturewatch_org after hearing about their incredible work while in my role at Devon Rape Crisis. It's so important that those who need to flee abuse and violence can do so knowing their pets are being well looked after.

I spoke to @Refuge4Pets about the lack of safe accommodation for those with pets fleeing domestic abuse and how abusers use (and abuse) animals as part of their campaign of violence and coercive control. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/a…

We were honored to share the importance of our work helping people and animals escape domestic abuse at the @APDAWG1 event yesterday🙏

This afternoon, I attended the #APDAWG event. Such a great opportunity to find out more about their important work supporting victims of domestic abuse, especially where pets are being used as a tool for coercive control. #BreakingTheLink

Our CEO Dr Mary Wakeham will be speaking at Parliament tomorrow to raise awareness of the link between domestic abuse and animal abuse. It's an opportunity to reach decision-makers to explain why when animals are protected, people are too. #BreakingtheLink

2/2 Domestic abuse affects 2.4 million people a year in the UK. The meeting will highlight how abusers often exploit the bond people build with pets & how we can work together to protect animals AND people. Find out more: naturewatch.org/animal-abuse-w… #BreakingTheLink, together. 🤝

Please take a moment to read Vanessa's feature about our work and how perpetrators use animals as part of their campaign of violence and control 👇
