Tennessee teacher Matthew Hawn was dismissed in 2021 for discussing white privilege and racial equity in a Contemporary Issues class. Next week, he faces a hearing to try to reclaim his classroom . 1/2 See more interviews at Censorville.com @CoachMattHawn @Kyla_Lacey

The @UMich Faculty Senate voted last week to censure the Board of Regents. The Regents have overstepped their role overseeing university finances and are now altering policy related to our educational and research missions. @insidehighered insidehighered.com/news/quick-tak…

This is an amazing educator. The kind of person you wish was your principal. Please read his story.

"The censure motion passed by an overwhelming margin." This week, 71% of voting faculty at the University of Michigan censure the regents (compared to 51% who voted "no-confidence" in the president in 2021). @Forbes forbes.com/sites/michaelt…

In an unprecedented move, the UM Faculty Senate overwhelmingly voted to censure the regents for their abuse of power and undermining of uni policies. Over 2,000 faculty voted. Motion: shorturl.at/X8Xco (Yes: 71.3%)

No wonder Michigan is a swing state. Laura Beny, a Black woman tenured professor at @UMichLaw, received sexually suggestive emails from the same dean who later "disciplined" her? Is this Michigan's version of the @TuckerCarlson "Daddy's home" speech? michigandaily.com/news/academics…

As SACUA Chair, I've repeatedly asked the Regents to listen to faculty. We asked to give a monthly verbal report so they can learn faculty concerns from faculty reps. They declined. I had to sign up for public commentary to report concerns + invite them to contact me. No response

The Michigan Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild denounces MI Attorney General @dananessel's decision to charge students for protest activities. @UMich

The @guardian reports: @Umich regents use their political and financial influence to pressure @dananessel into filing charges against their own students. "The revelations raise new questions about potential conflicts of interest." theguardian.com/us-news/2024/o…

The @UMich regents received hefty faculty feedback on their Proposed Policy for institutional Neutrality, including criticism for poorly defining terms. The change they made? They deleted 2 words. If this was a student paper resubmission, what grade would it receive?

Changes to the Statement of Student Rights, an increasingly authoritarian campus, the shrinking of public comments from 5 to 2 minutes, the push for "institutional neutrality." This is our U-M Regents. Oct 22: Regent candidate forum, Michigan Theater. facultysenate.umich.edu/regent-candida…

The astute and impressive @silkiestmaria on the "deeply ironic" push for institutional neutrality from the Regents and General Counsel during @UMich's "veritable orgy of political side-taking." chronicle.com/article/when-p…

I hope the original 5-member student Hearing Panel decision is upheld. Otherwise, it will be clear that the University has no concept of "fair and impartial judiciary."

After an OSCR hearing found protesters not guilty of charges associated with a pro-Palestine sit-in at the Alexander G. Ruthven building last November, the University has appealed the decision. michigandaily.com/news/umich-app…

Should we adopt "institutional neutrality" at @UMich? Tune in with @Kdaugirdas @HankReichman @silkiestmaria @basit_ak_zafar and moderated by Lucy Hartley.
