Twitter has, in the past, been invaluable to me personally & professionally 👩‍💻 But I can no longer justify spending as much time on a platform used by so many (including its owner) to incite hatred Here's what I'm doing about it... 🧵

Update: also now on Bluesky. See you there? bsky.app/profile/rebecc…

There are parts of this platform that I adore and will miss a lot. I’m not deleting my account or leaving entirely. I’m just gonna try my best to not be on it very much, which will be challenging as a social media manager. See you elsewhere, I hope 👋

Thread complete: all 274 #Leicestershire villages are now here. When I started this 18 months ago, I didn’t consider how much effort it would involve. So I’m grateful to those who have offered likes, retweets & general encouragement to make it seem worthwhile sticking with it…

A #Leicestershire villages thread. 1. Ab Kettleby. A Roman mosaic and pavement were found beneath the churchyard of St James’s, indicating the presence of a villa. The Everard Digby memorialised in the church died in 1628 so is not (contra Wikipedia) the Gunpowder plotter.

A fascinating read. In my view, this is an example of a well-balanced🧵. The reason we come across such posts much less frequently is because they require much more knowledge & work to write than biased ones. They are also much harder to read, hence fewer people reposting them.

1) What a wonderful day of wildlife watching near Plymouth. To learn why the incredible bluefin tuna have migrated to UK seas and also much more, read this thread. It is vital to understand the reason for their recent appearance. See 2

I'm desperately sad about this, but it has been a highlight of my career to work with Getting on Board. If you care about #TrusteeDiversity and better #CharityGovernance, get in touch with the professionals listed on the website. They're some of the best I've met.

It is with deep sadness that Getting on Board must share the news that it is closing its doors and commencing an orderly wind-down of the charity. Our statement is continued in the thread below. [1/7 🧵]

Autumn has just arrived in Gaza. Heavy rains throughout the night. Over 1.5 million people in tents, many are drowning in rainwater. My sister has been living in a tent with her three kids for some 8 months now. She fell sick a couple of days ago. This madness must stop now.

A woman from Gaza just evacuated to Egypt & is looking for work opportunities (freelancing included). She’s a graphic designer & has just done a small project with her sister (still in Gaza) who is an artist. If you’ve a job opportunity for her/them, please let me know!

Update on how this is going: excellently. Have logged in three times. Once because someone told me I had a DM to respond to, once to reach an organisation, and once to share my photo of a an absolutely massive insect

We're urging the Government to ban the use of toxic chemicals in public spaces to protect our urban environments. 🌳🏃‍♂️ Sign the petition 📝and call on the UK Government to #GoPesticideFree with a national ban on urban pesticide use. ✊

It’s not about how many hours you work - it’s what you do with those hours that counts. It’s time to work smarter, not longer. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰
