Recently realized that my constant feeling of “everyone is going to think my thesis research sucks and that I’m stupid for even talking about it” is just a form of imposter syndrome.. still hard to deal with though 😪 #almostdone #icandothis

My advisor today gave me a hug, a diet dr pepper, and solutions to all of the things I was despairing over for the last 3 months. She knows me so well 🤣💓 #bestdayever #bestadvisoraward

I seriously need to credit #Evol2023 for re-inspiring me and motivating me to get back on the thesis grind. Thank you to everyone I met and had a conversation with- y’all are some of the most accepting, kind, and intelligent people I’ve ever met! 🧬🧑‍🔬

#SeaUrchins do one of the most spectacular metamorphosis of all animals. It only takes them about 1h (x150 speed here) to completely change their body plan. Also if they could help each other remove these remnant larval rods stabbing their back that would be great😅 @lab_lowe

Hey y’all the #evolution and #molecularecology communities need to realize that all the mountains of genomic data we are collecting are really valuable observations of the most fundamental level of biodiversity: genetic diversity. conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/co…

Anyone know a place I can buy chest waders that are NOT neoprene, have a bootfoot, have sizing for smaller feet (Sz. 7 in W), & are <$300? This endless search has reinvigorated my disdain for the lack of inclusion when it comes to finding field clothes.. #WomenInSTEM #fieldwork

Metadata preservation is crucial for genetic diversity monitoring and conservation management. At the height of the pandemic, I joined a remote datathon where we were able to restore metadata for >45K SRA BioSamples! Check out that data here: doi.org/10.1111/cobi.1…

While pursuing higher education, I have worked multiple jobs at a time, often working 12 hr days and 7 days/wk. I still owe over 60k in student loans. To say that students just need to work harder to avoid college loans is so detractive of the actual issue. #loanforgiveness

When you finally get one band to show up on your gel after weeks of troubleshooting and being unsure if you’re doing anything right.

One of my committee members and her awesome lab was recently featured in the Scientific American! Go Chelsea 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Is the world getting wormier? The talented @RachelNuwer visited our lab to find out. Check out her article in May's edition of Scientific American. scientificamerican.com/article/the-sc… @UW_SAFS @UWEnvironment @burkemuseum

The undergrad that helps me with my thesis research called me old when she found out I was born in ‘97… now I’m wondering if the rest of my students that I teach see me like this:

Dear students, I don't pace the lab to spy on you. I've just learned there's a slice of your population that won't ask me for help unless I happen to be beside them.

War just feels so outdated and unnecessary. I am completely heartbroken for the people of Ukraine. “Politicians hide themselves away… Making war just for fun, Treating people just like pawns in chess, Wait till their judgement day comes.” -Black Sabbath, War pigs

I just came across this paper of great relevence to #tdwg2021 and #BiCIKL_H2020 It highlights the importance of metadata, standards, links to voucher specimens, but also how poorly these data are treated at the moment doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2… @dr_t_eleven @GEOBON_org
