Striking image of Seeall (Siyaar = Jackal) the "wolf boy" from early 1900's. This image was taken 10years after his capture. Mervyn Smith believed that Seeall inspired the character Mowgli of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". Hope someone can validate this story.

Events like Maharashtra Pakshimitra Sammelan are great platforms to bring the birding community together and work collectively towards conservation of birds and habitats. Are you attending the sammelan this year? Know these priority species from Maharashtra & discuss them.

Very thrilled - our camp/workshop is full, and oversubscribed (recommended for next year). Never imagined that there are so many youngsters (14 to 18 yo) in India with so much birding experience (many with over 500 species list 🤩!). Hope to continue a few years!

3-day Young Birders Camp @IiserTirupati for 14-18 yo with some experience birding. We aim to connect observations in nature to science. We have multiple campers with over 600 species lists 😮 Very few spots remain. Do spread the word. skyisland.in/ybc cc @RajaBandi7 Ram

Having habitats like these next door, intact and natural is a great motivation. Just sit out watching and imagine the kind of biodiversity it supports. A never ending stretch of Southern Eastern ghats and the forests of foot hills. What dwells here? Jerdon's Courser?
