One person living with MND told us: “MND patients deserve to know if Proleukin has benefits as soon as possible … the more function that can be preserved for longer enables patients to get to a point MND becomes chronic or even cured”. united2endmnd.org/2023/08/31/med…

Having invested £700k, what a shame @mndassoc didn’t secure any commitment to put patients first. Why do these replies not show any recognition that mistakes were made? Or does @healthandthings think it’s ok for patients to wait years to access a drug in pharmacies now??

Response received, thank you @healthandthings @mndassoc will post a one page comment tomorrow. Overriding thoughts are…. be different and don’t accept the status-quo. @united2endmnd @onein300 @dsetters @burrow_geoff @edslater

We desperately need transparency around the #mirocals deal and Iltoo. Why were the rights sold to a company with no ability to produce a product for years and where product not the same as trialled? Esp where trial funded by charity and taxpayers? We deserve answers.

This👇❤️ It’s time for action. Sympathy does not help mothers like us stay with our children. #proleukin

People with MND demand and deserve treatment. #Proleukin reduced death rate by 40%, it is cheap, safe, it works and I want it. Time for real action @mndassoc @MNDoddie5 @MNDScotland . I don't want to die. united2endmnd.org/2023/07/25/pro…

I want to highlight this thread to show you the personal impact of the awful mess our university sector is in. Huge numbers of lecturers will lose their jobs over the next few years, and in each case that will be a whole career of investment and effort trashed. Do read. 👇

🧵 I've tweeted cryptically of late about stuff not being good in our department at the University of Chichester, and with me in that context. So: about three weeks ago I was told out of the blue that our BA in Modern History was being axed and my post placed at risk. (1/12)

If you read French, this is a fun 🧵 about Grimod de la Reyniere, one of the inventors of the concept of gastronomy #foodhistory @FoodandHistory1

Immense classique de la #gastronomie, que trouve t-on dans le fameux "Manuel des amphytrions..." (1808) de Grimod de la Reynière ? Quelques éléments ⬇️

Yet more terrifying evidence of racial bias in our legal system. “Police officers themselves typically act as rap experts in these cases. But their interpretations are too often…rooted in pre-existing beliefs about young black men and criminality” (brillian work @EMaryQ)

'The increased appearance of rap in courtrooms suggests authorities have latched on to the approach as one that can secure convictions with juries.' Investigative work led by @wf_pritchard on how rap lyrics & videos are used to convict Black men & boys theguardian.com/music/2023/jun…

What a fab #foodhistory thread from our @becketthistory graduate Sophia Lambert ❤️❤️

Hi, I’m Sophia and I’m a Team Assistant at the Galleries! For today’s #TuesdayTreasure, I’m going to share three of my favourite items from our #Cookery Collection, thinking about what people in #Leeds have been eating over the past 300 years... 🍴 [1/5]

What a lovely thread of histfood illustrations! The crow eating peas ❤️

Pour répondre à @peccadille je suis donc allée voir l'intérieur des livres de cuisines d'Ambrose Heath. Dans mon souvenir ils n'avaient pas d'illustrations à l'intérieur: reader, I was wrong! Je commence par ceux qui n'ont qu'une illustration (sublime) en p. de titre.

MND patients also have hope. However, unlike in oncology, the MND establishment seem to think we are happy with a large dose of sympathy and a pat on the head. Treatments are always far into the future and the current generation always doomed. How long until we get a chance?

I had a medical student shadow me all day in oncology clinic and, when I asked them at the end what surprised them the most, they paused to reflect & then said “the hope”
