The time has come fellow Vancouverites to pull some weeds and plant some seeds! This is a large space and I can't do it on my own, so any and all help is greatly appreciated ❤️

Microorganism friends I need your help to ID. In the water tray of one of my carnivorous plants I can see these little things swimming around. I whipped out the microscope and tried to snap some pics. There seem to be two types, one with a round shell and one pink with beady eyes

A quick study of the Darkthroat Shootingstar (Dodecatheon pulchellum) from a photo I took in my road side garden. This native spring ephemeral is one of the first flowers to bloom and then completely disappears in the Summer. You wouldn't even know it's there until next Spring.

Fellow Vancouver/Lower Mainland iNatters next weekend is the City Nature Challenge 2024! A friendly competition between major Canadian cities to see who can post the most observations on April 26, 27 and 28th. Search MVRD under projects in iNaturalist. Here is a Gadwall Duck 🦆

With a little bit of time between contracts I made this poster to display next to my street side garden, so kids and curious adults can make a game out of it. This is by no means the only pollinators, but my two criteria are 1. Commonly sighted and 2. they are distinctive.

A fallen Liriodendrites occidentalis, a Cretaceous species related to our extant Tulip Trees (Magnoliaceae), is a rare treat for the relatively small Ceratopsian Turanoceratops, whos' fossils were found at the Bissekty Formation of Uzbekistan.

So many thanks to @TheeJamesLloyd for this beautiful rendition of my favorite pirate. I can practically hear him say "Can't you see I'm baskin' in moon glow!"
