Hello science Twitter! It's time to re-evaluate a long standing hypothesis in bioacoustics!!🤯🤯🤯 No current support for the acoustic adaptation hypothesis but we think it's still worth testing a refined version... Find out how 👇👇👇 Brilliantly led by Dr (so soon!!) Freitas

📌Just published: "Meta-analysis of the acoustic adaptation hypothesis reveals no support for the effect of vegetation structure on acoustic signalling across terrestrial vertebrates" More details 👇 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/br…

Analysis of otolith shapes in 697 species. Nice results! Strong correlation between otolith shape and that of the sulcus, suggesting that the otolith plays a key role in amplifying the forces exerted on the sensory cells of the sulcus.@UniversiteLiege dx.doi.org/10.1093/biolin…

The most important study I've done in my career (25 yrs ago) revealed that freshwater animals were disappearing 5X faster than land animals in N. America -a loss rate similar to tropical rainforests. I was naive enough to think this finding would change the focus of conservation.
