If your justice work isn't accessible, disabled people can't do it If disabled people can't do it, it isn't diverse If it isn't diverse, it isn't inclusive If it isn't inclusive, it isn't equitable If it isn't equitable, it's not justice work

I’m only gonna say this one more fucking time. Ableds, are you listening? My disability does what it wants, and this ridiculous narrative that disabled people are only worthy of anything if they “don’t let their disability stop them” is incorrect, damaging and dangerous.

Increasing conservatorships is not the answer- people need affordable housing. We need our basic needs met (food, water, housing) so hat we are able to address our mental health needs.

Great article on #accessible typography from @merylkevans Bye bye italics, centered text and... CAPS, (bold)....

#Accessibility pros encourage limiting the use of italics, centered text, UPPPER case, and other things in online content. We need to add this other guidance: buff.ly/3FGv9So Yes, this is me with the legendary @jared_w_smith Fangirling! #A11y

I’ll say it again: Disabled people NEED social media. We don’t have the luxury of boycotting and burning down every platform. Fight for safe spaces and ethical management of these platforms. Please don’t rip away every last one of our online communities.

Ableism kills. Capitalisms kills. Greed kills.

NEW: Private equity giant KKR bought up more than 600 group homes. We found conditions grew so dire that nurses quit, a state banned the company from accepting new residents, and some of the most vulnerable people in its care suffered and died. buzzfeednews.com/article/kendal…

THIS.

One thing disabled people know is that we're all just one COVID infection away from being high-risk. We all deserve transit that's accessible to us as we age. Shouldn't @CAPublicHealth know this, too?

Helia Daigeau (she/her) Reposted

📢 California strongly recommends masks on all public transportation and in transit hubs. Public transportation settings are considered high risk and may not have adequate ventilation, which can increase your risk of getting COVID-19.

Abolition and disability justice are intertwined. No one is free until we are all free.

"...People with disabilities are dramatically overrepresented in our prisons and jails: nearly half of all incarcerated women reported having a disability (based on 2016 data)

It was an honor to represent Hand in Hand at today's action!
