Landfills are anaerobic, which means they lack oxygen. Organic waste like food will rot down and create methane, a greenhouse gas that is 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Surely we can find the owner? Spread the word!
Did you have a terrific birding trip to Iceland in May, but then lose your SD card with your 3,700 bird photos in Norfolk? I have it!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat!!?🤬
Prawn trawlers🦐 in Queensland’s east coast fishery haul in nearly 25,000 tonnes of sea life each year but throwback nearly 20,000 tonnes (estimated). 80% BYCATCH ‼️ including fish, sharks, rays, sea snakes and sawfish. How is this legal? #ecocide theguardian.com/australia-news…
Just leave an area with leaves this winter under some shrubs and trees and of course with plenty of hedgehog holes If you have a fence or wall. That way you provide for hibernating hedgehogs. Don't waste your money on inferior gadgets. bbc.com/news/articles/…
We've heard and seen all of this fine nonsense before, it changes nothing. In the 3 years since been fined £90 million for illegally dumping sewage @SouthernWater has still managed to dump 627,194 hours worth of sh*t into the environment. theconversation.com/three-water-co…
Trophy fishing targets the biggest individuals, offering large sums of money as a reward for killing vital marine predators threatened with extinction. This is slaughter for selfies, and it is hugely damaging to these species & the wider marine ecosystem. blueplanetsociety.org/the-harmful-pr…

Had a great day out in York seeing my first Tansy Beetles. They’re gorgeous!
If you only discover a wasp nest by now why not leave it? The nest only has a few more weeks maximum. It will produce new queens who will survive the winter elsewhere. Wasps are an essential part of our ecosystem.
If you can't even ensure that wildlife gets fed in your garden, why should you expect wildlife to help feed you from farmland? #NoPollinatorsNoFood
Another newbie
Nope. Bring wildlife to your garden with plants rather than with inferior gadgets. If you provide food, water and shelter for the smallest of creatures, you do so for all.
This millionaire just got a licence to slaughter 128 endangered fin whales. We need to stop this horror -- for good! Let's create an urgent global outcry! Sign the global petition here: secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/ic…
We look forward to your response @CeredigionCC
Why have @CeredigiionCC ripped up the mature shrubs in front of Plascrug leisure centre & replaced it with this abomination? Sterile, plastic polluting and possibly carcinogenic. It's an ecological & environmental crime. What were you thinking?! @Shitlawns
Very pleased to have spotted a white-tailed bumblebee nest under our shed. I saw several worker bees going in and out and managed to film one.
Replacing nature that we ALL need so that @SpursOfficial can give their players cancer instead of maintaining some grass pitches. Slow clap 👏
One of the best publicly-accesible rewilding sites in London is due to be enclosed & destroyed for artificial pitches for @SpursOfficial I visited Whitewebbs Park in Enfield to see why it’s special & why local people are against this destructive sell off by @EnfieldCouncil 🧵
Thanks to the pond we have seen several broad-bodied chaser dragonflies in the garden. This female decided to sit still long enough for me to photograph her.
There is loads you can do to attract wildlife in the garden. We were inspired by the ideas showcased in the recently re-opened Hibbert Ware Garden in Girton. It has some lovely ideas incl this impressive 'Hugelkultur Bed', a haven for invertebrates. #WildWednesday #wildlifegarden
