Hayden J refuses to sit in private to hear evidence from 'Dr F' in Archie Battersbee case - "These are matters of life and death" Telling the court he is "deciding one of the most difficult decisions that a judge has to make ... it cannot be done behind closed doors”

There is rarely a problem funding psychological & psychiatric assessments, these being deemed a necessary and proportionate cost - why is recognition and assessment of DA and it’s implications for contact arrangements not?

Legal aid should cover these assessments since they play a critical role in assisting courts to implement PD12J.

Well worth reading this initial but forensic analysis of each of the main themes of the Government’s “Bill of Rights” bill, by @JoshuaRozenberg Which concludes by saying: “This is all I have so far. But it does not bode well.” #ECHR #HumanRights

Government to publish its “bill of rights bill” today. But will it achieve what @MoJGovUK promises? New analysis of what we know so far, free to read here: rozenberg.substack.com/p/bill-of-righ…

#SundayThoughts 🤔 @nadhimzahawi @JoshMacAlister Child Protection - a culture of cover up and deceit, bad practices and systemic #injustice - When will it end? When will the lying stop? Where are the safeguards to protect the vulnerable and the innocent? #accountability #change

#MondayThoughts 🤔 @nadhimzahawi @JoshMacAlister Taking children into a broken Child Protection system must be the last option. Children are not an asset nor must they be exploited but they are treated as such and exploited too. When will the systemic #injustice end? 🎯#solutions

Managing your safety as a woman in 2022 is exhausting. Managing a child's safety too is exhausting. Managing your safety as a mother exposed to an abusive perp's behaviour & your child, whilst engaged in family court proceedings where victims are silenced, surpasses exhaustion.

The #familycourt system is absolutely byzantine, and terrible for #women and #children. It has been the worst experience of my life, a dystopian #horror compounded by the Covid pandemic and being completely #isolated with no support.” (@womensaid 2022: 24) #TwoYearsTooLong

So, so important that court professionals dealing with domestic abuse cases understand the causes, presentations and effects of distress and protect victims. Dr Davies work is eye-popping and provides keys to ending the pathologisation of victims.

To demedicalise distress is not to delegitimise distress. One can honor, respect and care for profound suffering without labeling it as illness, pathology or disorder.

Dear Judge, Today I'm in Contempt of Court because I refuse to send my Teen to his death. You have Police & Hospital Reports, that forcing him to his abuser will facilitate his suicide, yet you haven't protected him, so I'm facing your Jail Threats for preventing his death. 😰

We encourage domestic abuse victims to flee but if they have children with their abuser, we hear of them of being dragged into the family courts where unregulated experts, profiting from peddling pseudoscience, cause further harm. Time for urgent inquiry theguardian.com/theobserver/co…

Were you ever told that in family law cases you are protected by human rights laws? Did your lawyers tell you when your legal rights were violated? The Family Court Crisis is a rule of law crisis. If judges and courts do not follow the law, they are creating legal anarchy.
