Enjoyed the pre-game stats chat on DonsTV. Thought I'd share some of what I talked through in a thread here. Thankfully I didn't jinx anything and all has aged well.

Watched this interview last night and thought it was striking just how much Stevens loves scoring goals. Sounds basic, but not sure all strikers think quite so intently about goalscoring. Been a while since we've had such a pure bagsman. Top signing.

💬 @MathewStevens98: “I told my Dad I’d get two or three that day.” 💪 Confidence was flowing through our striker as he scored his first Wimbledon hat-trick. 📺 Watch the full feature with Matty HERE! 👉 tinyurl.com/yncbs4a4 #AFCW 🟡🔵

Obvs backed the 0-0. Lasted one minute more than last time. Great result though!

All things considered, you'd guess this would be a low-scoring encounter and a 0-0 a distinct possibility. But last time I backed that was on the opening day vs Colchester and that saw a 5 goal 1st half (so don't ask me).

Wimbledon in League Two since the start of last season: Games when behind: 26 Win: 3 Draw: 3 Lost: 20 Games when ahead: 24 Win: 17 Draw: 5 Lost: 2 Clearly have become stronger at closing out games but struggle to break teams down when behind. #afcw #afcwimbledon

Today marks 30 years since this brilliant Wimbledon team goal got Ron Atkinson the sack at Villa. Here in the final minute, no less than EIGHT players are involved in the move, before Oyvind Leonhardsen finishes it off superbly. Not a long ball in sight.

Frustrating today. Dominant in 2nd half but didn't work their keeper enough. Sloppy spell in 1st half costly. Goodman poor for goal - has to stop waiting for ball to come to him. Unconvinced starting back 3 is our best one - both Lewis & Johnson better in middle than as wide CBs.

Rather than moan about the PLC posting a statement I thought I'd have a go at some measure to reduce costs or increase revenue at @afc Wimbledon. 1) cut the playing budget. It's the biggest contribution to the annual loss. Downside probable /certain relegation 1/?

Going to start doing short stats-based preview threads on our games/opponents. Will hopefully include some nice insights that you can use to impress/lose your friends (delete as appropriate). So first, Grimsby...
