SPC has opted to issue a new tornado watch for parts of Alabama until 2a CT. A brief, isolated tornado is possible, but not especially likely. Heavier storms could produce small hail and strong gusty winds over the next few hours. Rain will be heavy at times.

⚠️Latest severe weather forecast update has some minor changes to the eastward extent of the Enhanced Risk, but bottom line is that EVERYONE is going to see a threat of severe storms as we go through the day. Stay weather aware!! #alwx
Enhanced risk (level 3/5) expanded a bit in the mid-morning SPC update. Be sure you have a good way of hearing warnings this afternoon.
Tomorrow's severe threat will be earlier in the day than the typical severe event, starting as early as 7am NW. Threats include damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. Have multiple ways to get warnings and a plan of what to do, and take even severe thunderstorm warnings seriously.
Roadways remain wet across the area, which could cause black ice to develop later tonight into Friday morning as temperatures quickly drop well below freezing. Use extra caution if you have to travel overnight or tomorrow morning.
