In 1936, my grandfather, Frank E. Beresford, a professional artist, went to see the lying-in-state of King George V. He was moved by the scene & asked permission to set up his easel and paint it. From this emerged his painting, The Princes' Vigil, which was bought by Queen Mary.

These are the buttons from my wife's granddad's WW2 RAF uniform. When you put them together, they make a mini-compass, for use if you get shot down behind enemy lines (which he did). It's the most Q-Branch thing I've ever seen.
