Happy to share our article “On the use of receiver operating characteristic area under the curve in eyewitness memory research” written together with @HenryOtgaar is now published in Legal and Criminological Psychology (doi.org/10.1111/lcrp.1…). @CELL_kuum @UMForPsy 1/8🧵
Also, check out this preprint tutorial and shiny app to help perform simulation-based power analyses for ROC curve and AUC analyses🌚
For that reason, we created a tutorial (see the preprint here: doi.org/10.31234/osf.i…) and a shiny app (paulriesthuis.shinyapps.io/ROC_Power_Shin…) @cbucken @HenryOtgaar 6/8 🧵
See here for an interesting new article from our lab! @PaulRiesthuis and @HenryOtgaar analysed how ROC curves and AUCs are used in eyewitness memory research!

Always nice to give a lecture on my PhD research examining the effects of fabrication on memory. Also happy to have given a presentation on when scientific research is ready to give practical recommendations and the interesting discussion that followed!
Busy day in our lab today: a symposium on the effects of lying on eyewitness testimonies for the Psychology, Law and Criminal Justice course at KU Leuven with interesting talks by Dr Paul Riesthuis, Dr Charlotte Buecken and PhD Candidate Mara Moldoveanu (1/2)

Dr. Dewi Maulina giving a talk on traffic psychology to our lab today! Very interesting research happening in Indonesia 🚗 @HenryOtgaar
New post! Many idiographically motivated papers in psych leave @dingding_peng unimpressed as they (1) fail to establish meaningful variation, (2) neglect unreliability at the individual level and/or (3) suffer from the usual estimand confusions the100.ci/2024/10/28/idi…

Gino's case against us has been dismissed. Scientists cannot effectively sue other scientists for exposing fraud/errors in their work. Those who work to correct the scientific record can sleep better tonight. Those who don’t want it corrected, well, I don’t care how they sleep.
New issue in Memory is out! With papers on post-identification feedback, open science practices in false memory, COVID-19 related memories and many more interesting papers. tandfonline.com/toc/pmem20/cur…
A sample of articles on natural experiments, calculating and interpreting prediction intervals, the misuse of the bayes factor, analyzing ecological momentary assessment data, and much more. psychologicalscience.org/news/releases/…
Congratulations Dr. @cbucken on such a great thesis and public defense! Very proud of you and I am happy that we get to share an office for a little while longer! 🤓
