Very excited to read this analysis of charisma/rizz !
Fascinating new article by @PaulJoosse and Yulin Lu in @BJSociology uses ML to trace the popularization of "charisma" from Max Weber to Tom Holland. In so doing, they produce this spectacular table. Article ("The Concept that Went Viral") is OA: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
Yes, a fascinating exmple of charismatic mimicry!
Extremely interesting from the perspective of charismatic authority theory. With @PaulJoosse we wrote about mimicry as a strategy for sharing charismatic allure between char. leader and non-charismatic elites. In this case, we see how imitation works from leader to followers.
Happy to hear that our paper with @PaulJoosse on Volodymyr Zelensky's style and 'charismatic mimicry' of Western leaders received honorable mention in the article award of @ASAPEWS section of American Sociological Association! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/07…

Great new paper on the economics, or anti-economics (as economics is usually understood) of charisma. Weber was clear on this but we haven't paid much attention until now. Highly recommend!
🚀 NEW PAPER 🚀 My new paper on Elon Musk and Dogecoin discusses the links between charismatic authority and economic practices. In particular, I explore the role of gift and speculation in the political economy of charisma. tandfonline.com/eprint/HVKNWQ3…
It's Jan 6 and what better way to commemorate the interrupted QAnon revolution than reading a paper @PaulJoosse and I co-wrote about the event. As a bonus, it was incidentally published exactly on Jan 6 (but 2022). journals.sagepub.com/eprint/V3ASKGH…

I think of "suspend" as meaning "pause" or "temporarily halt." I guess it's become a euphemism.

NEW PAPER! Are you hardcore constructivists who believe subjectivity is a social product? Our critique of Mead and reappraisal of Husserl, which I co-wrote with Dan Zahavi, hopes to change that. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
